Cochran defeated Kentucky 's number 1 player Arjun Shankaren 3-1 in the  semifinal and went on to take the Division 1 championship by topping Ohio men's champion Samson Dubina 3-1 in the final.
Saturday, February 16: South Bend 's Joey Cochran was 10-0 in the Macy Block Open table tennis tournament in Columbus, Ohio. In the final match of the Division 1 event, Cochran defeated Ohio men's champion Samson Dubina 3-1 for the second time in three weeks to claim the championship.  Taking third place with a 7-3 record was South Bend Table Tennis Center teammate Dan Seemiller Jr. of New Carlisle.
Saturday, February 23: South Bend Table Tennis Center's Joey Cochran and Dan Seemiller Jr. traveled to Davison, Michigan (outside Flint) for the February Open Saturday.  In the Open Division, Cochran and Seemiller finished first and second and Seemiller won the U2250 rating event.
February 29-March 1: 08' Arnold Classic in Columbus Ohio. As far as the singles events went it didn’t go so well.  In the Open Joey had a tough match in his round robin.  After being up 6-4 in the last game he ended up losing 11-7 which placed him second in the group.  With only one player advancing it was a little bit disappointing.  The under 2400 event started off a little bit better than the open.  Joe advanced out of the round robin.  The next round he had a bye which put him strait into the quarter finals.  Here the S.B. junior played Ivan Popov from Michigan. Joe beat Ivan in five games which put him into the semis.  In the semi-finals he had to play Arjun Shankaren from Kentucky.  This turned out to be the last match in the singles events.  He lost three games to none. (in Joe's words)
I played with Zach Steele in the team event.  We started out ranked fourth in round robin of four teams with two teams advancing.  Against each team we went the full amount of matches either winning or losing 3-2.  After playing the round robin we ended up in a three way tie for first.  After turning it in they said we came out third place.  SO we started packing our things getting ready to leave.  Then about a half hour later they called us up saying they made a mistake.  We came out second allowing us to advance.  We played really good in the next round but ended up losing close in 5 matches.

March 15-16: Indianapolis Spring Open. (Joe's own words) There was a tournament in Indianapolis that Andre and I went down to.  We were both in 3 events: the open, the over 1850 and the open round robin.  Our first event was the Open.  Andre had a little bit of a tough draw playing Ivan Popov in the opening round robin.  After I got past the opening round I had a bye to the semis where I faced Don Hamilton.  I beat Don 3-0 and played Robert Luo in the Finals.  I have played Robert lots of times in previous tournaments and never have had much trouble against him but this time it was a little different.  I won the match but every game was won by 2 points.   After that exhausting match I had to play in a round robin with Ivan Popov.  Unfortunately I lost that match 11-9 in the fifth, however I found out later that two people advanced out of each round robin which allowed me to advance.  I went on to win the event playing Robert Luo in the finals a second time.  This time it went much smoother in a 3-1 win.  Andre did not play well in the over 1850 and lost to Robert and another player in the round robin.  The next day we played in the Open round robin event.  It was set up with 6 round robins of 4 with the top players coming out of each round robin playing in a round robin of 6.  Both of us played really well and advanced in the first round robin.  In the final round robin my toughest match was against Andre where we were tied at 6 all in the final game.  I pulled it out and won the event.  Andre came in 5th
March 29, three South Bend Juniors traveled to Pittsburgh for the 50th anniversary tournament of the South Park Table Tennis Club.  Joe Cochran won the A division with a record of 7-0.  He defeated South Park champion, Randy Seemiller, 3-1 in the final. Dan Seemiller Jr.  had mixed results with a 3-4 record.  He had a 2-1 and a 9-6 lead on his uncle, Randy Seemiller, who was rated 2406, but lost 3-2.  Dan finished 5th. Andre Khailo  had a 4-3 record in B division and finished in third place. Strong efforts by all.
      April 19,

Brewer (2006 Men's Singles, Doubles and Junior Champion).  In the third game Brewer fought back from a 10-5 deficit to take an 11-10 lead.  The lead then exchanged hands several times before Cochran finally prevailed at 21-19.  Cochran then took the last two games at 11-7 and 11-9 to advance to the final.
